Based in Lagos, GT Bank is not only one of the largest banks in Nigeria, but is also active in several other African countries, from Kenya to Uganda.

If you have a GT Bank account, you might be happy to use your debit card to make cash withdrawals. But you actually do not need to! Thanks to their cardless withdrawal feature, which they call “GT-Rescue”, you can also set up a withdrawal from your phone or via e-banking, before heading to the ATM of your choice to get your money. And there are several ways to do so, depending on your favorite way to bank: in this article, we’ll show you set up a cardless withdrawal using either the GTBank USSD code, the GTBank mobile banking app, or the GTBank e-banking website.

Setting up your Cardless Withdrawal

1.  How to Withdraw Money Using GT Bank’s USSD Code

  1. Use your phone dial the USSD short code used by GTBank in your country. In Nigeria, it is *737#, while in Uganda it is *237# and *878# in Kenya. If it is your first time using USSD to access your account, you will first have to register.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts to select the cardless withdrawal feature.
  3. Input 1 if you want to withdraw from a GTBank ATM, or 2 to withdraw from another bank’s ATM.
  4. If you have selected 2, you can now choose between withdrawing at an ATM or a point of sale offering this feature.
  5. Input the amount you want to withdraw.
  6. Create a 4-digit “Cash-Out PIN".
  7. Enter your pre-selected PIN to complete the withdrawal request.
  8. You will receive a reference code via SMS, and you can now go make your withdrawal.

2. How to Withdraw Money Using the GTBank Mobile App

  1. If you haven’t already, download the GTBank mobile app on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store and log in with your bank details.
  2. In the menu, select the Cardless Withdrawal option under the “Banking” heading.
  3. If you’re going to a GTBank ATM, select the Cash out (GTBank ATMs) option. Otherwise, select Cash out (All ATMs & POS).
  4. Complete the form, including the amount and the account from which you wish to withdraw.
  5. Enter your 4-digit PIN.
  6. You will receive a reference code via SMS, and you can now go make your withdrawal.

3. How to Withdraw Money Using GTBank Internet Banking

  1. Log in to GTBank’s e-banking website using your account credentials.
  2. Click on Account Transfers.
  3. If you’re going to a GTBank ATM, click on Cardless withdrawal (GT-Rescue). Otherwise, select Paycode (Cardless withdrawal).
  4. Complete the form, including the amount and the account from which you wish to withdraw.
  5. Answer your secret question.
  6. Input your token code.
