Spacious Sedan Choices

Toyota Camry vs. Toyota Avalon? Both are spacious, reliable sedans, and their safety records are as good as it gets. You'll see the biggest differences between the Camry and the Avalon in engine power, fuel economy, standard amenities, and price.

Toyota Camry

The Camry is one of America's most popular sedans, and it's easy to see why. The base model has a starting price of $23,495*, which is an extraordinary value. The standard 2.5L four-cylinder engine produces 203 hp and gets excellent EPA-estimated gas mileage of 29 mpg city and 41 mpg highway. Its sleek design has a sportier feel than the Avalon, and it's well-equipped with Bi-LED headlights, LED combination tail lights, an integrated backup camera with your projected path, and standard Toyota Safety Sense™ P (TSS-P), Toyota's exclusive suite of advanced safety technologies.

Toyota Avalon

Think of the Avalon as a more refined, luxurious alternative to the Camry. Its standard 3.5L V6 engine has quite a bit more power - 268 hp - but less compelling fuel efficiency, with EPA ratings of 21 mpg city/30 mpg highway. Standard features are generous, like automatic on/off quadrabeam halogen headlights, smoked LED tail lights, alloy aluminum wheels, and TSS-P. Leather-trimmed upholstery and heated front seats are also standard, and so are wood grain interior trim and dual zone automatic climate control. Although the Camry and the Avalon are essentially the same size and have similar passenger space, the Avalon has two more cubic feet of trunk space and a larger fuel tank. So, as you'd expect, the Avalon has a higher starting price tag of $33,500*.
