This thing is amazing. At first I thought about returning it because the ceramic comb is so hot and I was burning myself. I failed to realize that the black plastic-like shield is not just to sheathe the comb but also to use while combing your hair. I am a male with 3-inch thick, voluminous, wavy, coarse cloud-like hair and I just wanted something to sort it out neatly every day. I didn't want a flat iron hair straightener because those take time and also burn your hair. So after trying this with the black shield I decided to keep it because it got the job done so quickly, efficiently and painlessly. the black shield and the ceramic comb together create tension by pulling on the hair while you comb, thus straightening it out. in any direction all it takes is a few comb-thrus to have a neat looking hair arrangement. The comb also heats up quickly to any heat setting. Personally I use the highest setting for quickest results. I don't spend more than 2 mins doing it so I dont ever have to leave my hair unwashed for fear of having to straighten it again. So so so glad I didn't return this.

Only thing that I don’t like too much is how long it takes to warm up and that the hottest temperature could definitely be hotter. Other than that though, would definitely purchase again.
