FASTING THAT PLEASES AND DISPLEASES GOD.

FASTING THAT PLEASES AND DISPLEASES GOD.

Isaiah 58 V 3-11

We have two types of fast. The one that pleases God known as the purifying fast, and the one that displeases God known as the wicked fast. Yes! there is something called wicked fast which powers of darkness embark on every now and then. But my emphasis is not on witches/wizards fast, but to help us distinguish between a wicked fast and a purifying fast.

1. The Wicked Fast( Fast that Displeases God) let's take a look at Isaiah 58 v3-5

3 In fact, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, And [b]exploit all your laborers.

4 Indeed you fast for strife and debate, And to strike with the fist of wickedness. You will not fast as you do this day,To make your voice heard on high.

5 Is it a fast that I have chosen,A day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it to bow down his head like a bulrush,

And to spread out sackcloth and ashes? Would you call this a fast, And an acceptable day to the Lord?

The wicked type of fast is the one you embark on with guile, bitterness, strife, deceit, wickedness, and every form of inhumane nature in your heart. The type that everybody will know your fasting because will look gloomy, unapproachable, touchy and religious. This type of fast displeases God and will not cross the gateway of heaven.

2. The Purifying Fast (Fast that Pleases God) let's read Isaiah 58 v 6-7

Is this not the fast that I have chosen:To loose the bonds of wickedness,To undo the [c]heavy burdens,To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,And that you bring to your house the poor who are [d]cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh?

A purifying fast on the otherhand entails the following: being kind, easying the burden of others, helping the oppressed around you, sharing your food with those who have none to eat, feeding the poor around you, sheltering the homeless, clothing those who have no clothes to wear in summary it entails loving your neighbour as yourself.

Now is there a reward when we embark on the purifying fast Yes! and same was explained in Isaiah 58 v 8-11

Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily,And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’

“If you take away the yoke from your midst,The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your [f]darkness shall be as the noonday.

The Lord will guide you continually,And satisfy your soul in drought,And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

The above scripture is self explainatory, we gain more and loose nothing when we embark on the purifying fast that pleases Jehovah. The purifying fast, is the kind of fast that opens the gate of heaven, and touches the heart of Jesus to interecede on our behalf.

So before you begin that fast and while you are fasting, check yourself and ask yourself am I undertaking a fast that will please my Heavenly Father or displease my Heavenly Father.
