Victory Gbakara Emerges Nigerian Idol Season 8 Winner

The singer will receive a grand prize of N100 million which includes a N35 million cash award.

Nigerian singer, Victory Gbakara, has won the season eight edition of Nigerian Idol.

His victory as the show’s winner was declared on Sunday.

The show’s host, Ikponmwosa Osakioduwa, also known as IK, made the announcement during the grand finale on Sunday in Lagos.

Gbakara concluded the season with a performance of Wizkid’s Blessed.

The singer will receive a grand prize of N100 million which includes a N35 million cash award.

Gbakara’s success also comes with a music record deal and the option to shoot a video.

The Nigerian Idol star thanked his supporters in a Twitter post.

 

The 2023 season of the show started in April and ran for 10 weeks, from April 23 to July 16, with live shows throughout.

Performances on the live show were judged by the viewers, who held the power to retain and evict contestants through their votes.

On Sunday night, the show’s conclusion featured thrilling group performances by all of the candidates and the judges. D’banj, Simi, and Obi Asika led the chorus in “Hall of Fame,” a song by the Star of Copenhagen, Switzerland released in 2014.
