Steps Involved:

  • Cut the soap base into chunks and melt it in the microwave till it forms a liquid.
  • Add the turmeric in the base and stir well.
  • Once the turmeric and the soap base combine, add coconut oil. This step is to ensure that this soap does not leave your skin dry. The coconut oil will instantly moisturize your skin.
  • To this mixture, add the essential oil. You can also use any fragrance of your choice here. However, while adding any of these ingredients, make sure that it is skin friendly, especially to the skin type that you have.
  • Stir everything well.
  • Pour the batter in the soap mold once the batter is at room temperature or at least warm. Pouring hot batter in the rubber mold will melt the mold.
  • Tap the mold a few times to release any air bubbles.
  • Cover the top of the mold and let it sit for 24 hours. Do not put it in the fridge.
  • Once the soap hardens, de-mold.
  • Use this homemade turmeric soap and you are good to go!

A few important points to remember are that you must keep the soap in a cool and dry place. This is because there are hardly any chemicals used in the home-made soap thus no artificial elements to hold the soap together and prevent it from melting. Another important point to remember is that use ‘wild turmeric’ while making the soap. While you can use the normal organic turmeric as well, there is always a fear of stain that comes along with it. If you want to avoid that, order wild turmeric online. This is specifically used in beauty products. Along with its property of not leaving a stain, wild turmeric also has a stronger fragrance to it which is ideal for a soap.
