If you are a gamer and like gaming a lot, you should go for a gaming device like the new Infinix Note 7. Pushing your phone to do what is more than it’s capability can cause overheating.
  • You are gaming too much:in most cases, gaming can make your one heat up within a few minutes. This is because gaming on your phone uses more of the CPU and GPU, thereby causing them to generate heat than expected.
  • Walking under direct sunlight for a long time: this is the number one external reason why your Infinix phone heat up. Just like every other thing, including your body, your cars or any other object, using your phone in direct sunlight for a long time cause a change in temperature thereby causing your phone to overheat.

How to stop your Infinix phone from overheating

As we’ve said earlier, your Infinix phone overheating may be caused by both external and internal issues. If you have successfully detected the reasons why your Infinix phone is generating much heat, the next step is to prevent them. Here is a list of six known ways in which you can stop your Infinix phone from overheating.

  1. Avoid using your phone under direct sunlight for too long: this is the easiest way to curb your phone from overheating. While we’re not telling you not to use your phone in direct sunlight, of course, you may want to pick up some important calls, or send some important texts right away. Thoseone shouldn’t take much of your time under direct sunlight, but doing some activities like gaming,  chatting or streaming for hours should be done in a cool place to prevent your phone from overheating. Another way to prevent your phone from overheating outside is not to use the camera for too long under direct sunlight. We know that the best pictures are captured with good lighting but shooting there for a long time can cause your phone to heat up to the extent that you can’t hold it anymore.
  2. Reduce screen brightness: alongside avoiding direct sunlight, setting your screen brightness to the maximum can cause your phone to heat up internally and also use more power. To prevent further overheating, make sure you are not always using the max brightness. You can toggle on Adaptive Brightness to help you automatically brighten up your phone where there is more light or dim the screen in low light. This can be activated directly from the quick setting shade by swiping down from the top of the screen twice and tap on the ‘A’ icon near the brightness slider. Or better still, you can activate Adaptive Brightness from your phone's settings page. To do this, kindly open the Settings app from your drawer, select Display and then click on Adaptive brightness to turn it on.
  1. Freeze/uninstall unused apps:most times, we like to install more apps even when we don’t actually need them or we don’t use them frequently. These apps can actually cause your Infinix phone to overheat because they keep running in the background even without opening them thereby forcing more workload on the CPU. That is why Infinix makes it possible for you to freeze your apps on XOS. Freezing your apps removes them from the launcher and then stop them from running, it works just like uninstalling an app but freezing makes it possible in such a way that you can reuse your apps when you need them again without losing any saved data. To make use of the freezer feature on XOS, you can find the App Freezer directly on your home screen, just open the freezer and tap on the ‘+’ icons to select apps you want to freeze. To unfreeze apps, kindly launch the freezer and select the app you want to unfreeze and confirm to withdraw it from the freezer.
  2. Remove the phone case: while using a pouch or cases on your phone doesn’t cause it to overheat, it can trap some amount of heat into the phone especially when charging or performing high tasks. Removing the case for some time when the phone is heated up can help cool down the phone.
  3. Take breaks: it’s true that gaming is one of the most reasons for buying a smartphone. Regardless of that, gaming for too long can cause your phone to overheat because it uses both the CPU and GPU at a high rate to deliver to you the best possible performance and this leads to increase in the temperature of the devic This is ture especially if you are using a low-end device. To prevent overheating during gaming, ensure to stay in a well-ventilated environment and take breaks when you detect a slight increase in the temperature of the device. You can also make use of Game mode on XOS v6 to limit your gameplay if you’re addicted to gaming.
  4. Make use of Phone Master: Junk files and malware can also make your device overheat and all you have to do is get rid of them to keep your device in a good temperature. Phone Master is an all-in-one tool available on your Infinix phone. It can help you clean junk file, cool down the CPU, boosts your phone and also protect your phone from malware with its inbuilt antivirus.

Following the above-mentioned advice, especially using your phone in a temperate environment will yield to good result. If however, you followed the guides and the heat seems not to stop, then you need to see a technician.
