About Opay POS Machine & Charges

Opay, like other Fintech businesses, has Point of sale (POS) terminals that allow customers to easily make transactions such as withdrawals, transfers, deposits, subscriptions, etc. 

If you would like to become an Opay POS agent all you need to do is to have an Opay account, BVN, bank account, passport, a recent utility bill, valid ID, and business center.

Interestingly, it’s free to apply for Opay POS. However, Opay has three different kinds of machines for different price rates. Opay Smart POS costs N50,000 naira, N35,000 naira for Opay Traditional POS, and N8,500 naira for Opay Mini POS.

In order to become an Opay POS agent you must be a level 3 user.  If you are already an Opay user, you will be a level user and must upgrade to level 3 in order to get Opay POS. 

All you need to do to upgrade is to click the upgrade to level 3 option on your profile and upload the necessary documents required to operate an Opay terminal. Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive notification between 24-72 hours that it has been approved.

Opay POS Withdrawal Charges

Opay POS charges 0.5% on every withdrawal you make below N20,000 naira of the amount.

For withdrawals above N20,000 naira Opay charges a flat rate of N100 naira.

However, Opay POS terminal agents are free to set their own prices for withdrawal transactions. What this means is that the 0.5% or N100 naira charge as stated above is what Opay charges per transaction.

Opay POS Transaction Charges

For other transactions like purchasing airtime and data bundles, Opay has different commissions depending on the network provider (MTN, Airtel, 9mobile, and GLO). 

MTN it charges 3% commission, Airtel 4%, Glo 4%, and 9Mobile charges a 4.5% commission.

Also, Opay charges 2% for all kinds of subscriptions or utility bill payments ranging from Gotv, DStv, Startime or PHCN, etc.

Opay POS Deposit Charges

Opay charges a flat rate of N10 naira per deposit of N5,000 naira and below and for transactions above N5,000 naira and N10,000 naira Opay charges N20 naira.

For deposits above N10,000 naira, Opay charges N30 naira.
