Challenges in Learning Igbo Part 1

Challenges in Learning Igbo Part 1

The process of learning Igbo language is not impossible, but it can be quite demanding. As an adult learner, you may encounter some challenges which are worth mentioning, such as:

.Learning a new alphabet system that includes sounds that you may not be familiar with, such as ch, gb, gh, gw, ny, nw, ṅ, ụ, ọ.

.Comparing and contrasting the grammar rules of Igbo language with those of English.

.Adapting to the different sentence structures of Igbo language which may differ from those of English. 🤔For example, Igbo language places the noun before the adjective unlike English which places the adjective before the noun.

.Feeling confused 😢and wanting to give up 🙆due to the cultural differences between Igbo and English. For instance, while English speakers may eat bananas, Igbo speakers would lick them. This difference in culture is also reflected in the language as Igbo speakers do not use the word "eat" but rather "lick" when referring to consuming bananas.

.These are some of the challenges 😔that may arise while learning Igbo language, but it is important to approach the process with an open mind.

.Despite the difficulties, Igbo language is an interesting language to learn. As your favorite Igbo language teacher, I encourage you to persevere and enjoy the learning journey!

I still remain your favorite Igbo language teacher 😁
