BUSINESS LESSONS FROM THE STORY OF ASAKE!!! O.l.o.l.a.d.e...M.i...A.s.a.k.e.. Yesterday, I saw a video of Asake's music concert at the O2 Arena, UK. From the video, the hall was packed out, more than 20,000 people were present at the concert, and my head started calculating. Each person paid 100 pounds to be at that concert, and more than 20,000 people paid to go and listen to Asake. Oh wow!!! He cashed out massively!!! But then, my head was still thinking about. this thing… When did ASAKE come out? How did he build his brand? How is he able to do what most artist who has been in the music business for decades couldn't do? What did he do differently that landed him on what most people call "overnight success"? Asake didn't start out as a music artist, he was a cultural dancer that used to dance in festive occasions. In his attempt to be unique he added music to his dance craft. When he got into Uni, he decided to flex his music prowess more, and this earned him popularity in school. According to his close friend Yhemolee (nightlife influencer), Asake was known as the wizkid of their school, while he was known as the Steve Harvey. In 2016, when they graduated from O.A.U, this was when reality dawn on them, they had to look for a way to help their life. Yhemolee decided to move to Lagos where he thought the grass was greener. When he was living, Asake and their common friend followed him to Lagos. On reaching Berger, Yhemolee had contacted a friend he was going to squat with in Ajah, while he asked Asake to return to his family house on the Island. This was when the hustle began. Yhemolee began creating content for IG, one of those days, Don Jazzy and Tunde Ednut reposted his content in one day, his followers moved from 4k to 70k. This was how his Influencing business started, and he got into crypto, this made him really comfortable. Asake on the other hand was hustling, dropping singles that wasn't selling. Nobody knew him, he was so broke. At one time he was a manager for Broda Shaggi. Follows Broda Shaggi everywhere he goes. Yhemolee had blown, he had access to Big Boyz like Olamide and the YBNL family. He had released a song that Olamide was interested in. Olamide asked him about a guy that featured in the song, during the conversation, Yhemolee chipped Asake in, "my friend is baddd, please listen to his single" Baddo listened to one of his single called Omo Ope, he loved the single, he even did a verse for the song. Note: Asake has been sending DMs to Olamide since 2018, but one person mentioned him to Olamide, then boom, HE BLEW!!! In one year, "Asake moved from upcoming artist to a global artist". Today he charges $50,000 per show. He's filling O2 arena. He's singing in Yoruba to oyinbo people, and their girls are falling under anointing. I don't who needs to hear this, but you're doing your thing in one corner, and it's as though nobody is seeing you. See comments!!!

This content is a banger Ma'am Nelly Agbogu So many lessons such as resilience and the ability to persist even when the results you are looking for is not forthcoming. Sometimes, life will test your level of consistency to see how bad you want it and also having a supportive friend that mentions your name in places that matter just like Joseph in the Bible when the prisoner mention him to King Pharaoh. We are just one recommendation away from our grand success. Build relationships as it remains the key to success. What relationship can buy, money is not even close. Stay consistent, persistent and resilient in your pursuit of dreams.

Asake becoming popular out of the blues is something to be studied! Lessons I'm taking out of this: 1. Stay consistent on your grind, your big breakthrough is just around the corner. 2. While putting yourself out there, give your best always, you never know which one would bring your turning point. 3. Have the right network of people, just one recommendation from the right person can change your life. Thank you for sharing these rich nuggets ma'am, Nelly Agbogu

I didn’t even know all of these back story, it’s quite inspiring. There’s almost nothing like an overnight success, one has to keep putting in the job. Talk of friends that’ll mention our name and boast of our prowess in a room filled with opportunities, may we have them and may we be them.

Just never give up on your dreams, keep doing what you believe in and let people know you for it. Let everyone around you know what you do even if it seems like they can't help you at the instant. I remember when I started as a social media advertiser and all my friends knew I had learnt the skill, little did I know that few of them would even help me get some big deals from just word to mouth.

Nelly Agbogu, thank you for sharing the inspiring journey of Asake! It's a testament to the power of persistence and seizing the right opportunities. His story reminds us that success often comes from a blend of hard work, timing, and the support of those who believe in you. 🚀🎶

Aside been consistent, I’ve read about his humility and his zeal to always help out. Some of us fail to realise that when you are happy answering someone’s questions, you’re getting a deeper understanding of that same stuff. He begged (free) to perform sometime in Abuja, was rejected, yet he didn’t drink rat pôison. He’s everywhere today !! You have to be ready for that one big moment and that was A.s.a.k.e’s story. Nelly Agbogu thanks for sharing this!

One thing I have come to realize persistence pays! Persistence Pays!! PERSISTENCE PAYS!!!!!!!! And when persistence receives it's pay.... the slackers, the throw-in-the-towel-ers, the I-give-up-ers will stand as mere onlookers having deep regret Let me continue to wear my never-give-up attire It pays ooo!! Thanks a million Nelly Agbogu

This was very insightful to read. Lots of lessons to draw from this... • Persistence • Having the right friends If Asake had stopped dropping singles because they weren't going viral, his friend Yhemolee won't have mentioned him to Olamide and we might not have known Asake today. Thank you for the reminder to keep being persistent, to keep showing up because just one day, things can all change. Thank you ma Nelly Agbogu 🙏🏼
