Introduction: Plane With DC Motor

About: I am New Pew, I create electronic projects and share these creations on my YouTube channel. In every video I mainly show how you can make these innovative creations yourself! There is a description of each pro…

In this project I show you how to make a mini airplane.

The base consists of ice cream sticks, it contains a DC motor that drives the propeller.

Supplies

Parts you will need:

  • 5 popsicle sticks
  • 1 DC motor
  • 1 Propeller
  • Piece of red electrical cable
  • Piece of black electrical cable
  • 1 switch
  • 2 caps from a bottle
  • 1 skewer
  • 1 AAA battery

Tools you will need:

  • Glue gun
  • Soldering iron
  • Cutting pliers

Step 1: Making the Aircraft Fuselage

Put a little glue on the DC motor. Stick the popsicle stick on this.

Do this also on the other side. Let it dry well, the base is now ready.

Step 2: Mounting the Battery

Solder the red cable to the plus pole and the black cable to the minus pole.

Then use the glue gun and put a line of glue on the popsicle stick. Stick the battery on here.

Step 3: Finish the Aircraft Fuselage

Put a little glue on the end of the popsicle stick. Now push the 2 popsicle stick together and hold it until the glue is dry. You can also use a clamp.

Step 4: Connect the Wiring

Connect the red wire to the plus terminal of the motor. Solder the connection.

Mount the switch with a little glue. Connect the black wire from the battery to the switch. Connect another piece of black wire between the switch and the negative terminal of the motor. Solder the connections.

Before continuing, test that the motor is functioning.

Step 5: Mount the Wings

Stick a popsicle stick perpendicular to the top with a little glue. Now turn the plane over and glue a popsicle stick perpendicular to the bottom.

Step 6: Finishing the Wings

cut 4 pieces of the skewer. These pieces must fit snugly between the wings. Mount them with a little glue between the wings.

Step 7: Making the Landing Gear

Take the two caps and a piece of the wooden skewer. Put a little glue on the cap and attach the piece of skewer to it. The other cap will be on the other side of the wooden skewer.

When it is completely dry it can be mounted on the underside of the plane with a little glue.

Step 8: Mount the Propeller

Mounting the propeller was very easy for this project. The connection was perfect and I was able to push it straight onto the axle.

If this is not the case, it can be mounted with a dot of glue or, for example, with a terminal block.

The propeller I used comes from an old toy.

Step 9: Finishing the Tail.

Finally, a piece of popsicle stick is placed diagonally on the hull as a tail. Cut the ice cream stick diagonally and glue it to the hull.

Step 10: Ready to Fly

The plane is ready. You can make it fly in circles by attaching a small piece of fishing wire and hanging it on it. The propeller ensures that the plane starts flying in circles.

Have fun with this project, I hope you enjoyed it and I am curious about your results!

Thanks and see you soon!
